Jessica Gath was born in 1975 in Torrington, Connecticut. She attended Catholic school, studied with the Nutmeg Ballet and spent her adolescence in Maine. She trained in Chinese Language and Cultural Studies at Tufts University and received her MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in the Studio for Interrelated Media. Gath’s artwork has always focused on the human body, tangible and intangible. Her portfolio includes two-dimensional studies, sculpture, installation, video, film and performative works. There are themes of collection, creation, containment and dispersal. Her work is a celebration of that which is meant to be enjoyed and let go. Gath’s work is in many private collections across the United States, Europe and in Hong Kong. She lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts.
